Kok-Ann Gwee (MBBS, MMed, MRCP, FAMS, PhD) is Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the National University of Singapore, and Consultant Gastroenterologist at Gleneagles Hospital. He obtained his medical degree from National University of Singapore, and his PhD from University of Sheffield for his thesis on Post-Infection Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). His research includes epidemiology and socio-cultural factors of gastrointestinal diseases in Asia, the roles of inflammation, gut microbes, probiotics, gluten sensitivity, sleep disturbance and psychological factors in functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGID), and gastroesophageal reflux disease.

He was a founding member and past president of the Asian Neurogastroenterology & Motility Association. Professor Gwee was the lead author for the first Asian Consensus on IBS, guidelines on Primary Care Management of Chronic Constipation in Asia, and the management of functional dyspepsia overlapping with other gastrointestinal disorders in Asia-Pacific. Recently he has taken research interest in overlapping FGID, the potential of herbal medicines in digestive disorders, colonic diverticulosis and the role of pancreatic dysfunction in dyspepsia. In 2024, he was awarded the JGHF-APDWF Marshall Warren Luminary Gastroenterology Lectureship at APDW 2024.
