Dr. Shannon Chan

Dr. Shannon Chan is currently the Assistant Dean of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is an associate professor & Division Chief of Upper Gastrointestinal & Metabolic Surgery of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Being both a surgeon and an advanced interventional endosonographer, Dr. Chan’s research interest lies in gastric and esophageal cancers and interventional endoscopic ultrasound. She is an active member of the research committee of the Asian EUS group and subcommittee of the World Endoscopy Organisation (WEO) for biliary and pancreatic diseases. She is currently leading several multicentre international RCT on interventional EUS. Dr. Chan is a reviewer for Digestive Endoscopy, Endoscopy, Gut, Surgical Endoscopy, Journal of gastroenterology & hepatology, and Gastric cancer. She has published over 140 peer-reviewed journals and ten book chapters.

She was also awarded the Hong Kong Ten Outstanding Young People in 2022, the Hong Kong Humanity Award in 2021 and Elle International “100 Women Change Makers”.
