A/Prof. Fujisawa, M.D. & Ph.D., in Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan, is an expert endoscopist specializing in the pancreatobiliary field, with a particular focus on interventional EUS. Additionally, he is part of a research team under the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, working to elucidate the causes and improve endoscopic diagnosis of primary sclerosing cholangitis.
Beyond endoscopic therapy, he has extensive experience in basic research. He previously served as a research fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for four years, where he conducted studies on immunotherapy for pancreatic cancer. His current research interests include the relationship between pancreatic cancer and microbial infections, as well as the development of novel anticancer drugs using pancreatic cancer organoids.
He has published many papers on endoscopic therapy and basic research related to pancreatic cancer. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Gastroenterology, the official publication of the Japanese Society of Gastroenterology.
