Dr. Julajak Limsrivilai

Dr. Julajak Limsrivilai graduated M.D. with 1st honors degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, in 2003. He also completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the same institute in 2009 and 2011, respectively. He won the Anandamahidol scholarship award from the King of Thailand thereafter and went to do his research fellowship program with Prof. Peter Higgins, director of the IBD unit, University of Michigan, from 2015 to 2017, and earned a Master’s degree of science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis at the University of Michigan.

His field of interest is inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal infections, diarrhea and malabsorption, and small bowel endoscopy. His main publications focus on the diagnosis of IBD, distinguishing Crohn’s disease from intestinal tuberculosis, the role of stool GI panels in detecting infections in IBD patients with clinical flare, sleep quality in patients with IBD in long-term follow-up, and the effect of a change in fiber intake on gut microbiome changes and clinical flare in patients with IBD in long-term follow-up.

Dr. Limsrivilai recently published an article in the IBD journal describing the characteristics of isolated perianal Crohn’s disease and validating the TOPCLASS score. He is interested in GI infections and has published articles regarding intestinal tuberculosis, gastrointestinal CMV, and intestinal capillariasis.
