Dr. Ken Ohata

Dr. Ken Ohata is a leading expert in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), with over 20 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of early gastrointestinal neoplasia. As Director of the Endoscopy Center at NTT Medical Center Tokyo, he oversees Japan’s highest-volume colorectal ESD facility. A graduate of Nihon University School of Medicine, he has been instrumental in advancing ESD techniques and clinical practice both in Japan and internationally.

Beyond his clinical and research achievements, Dr. Ohata regards education and training as his lifelong mission. He has trained numerous endoscopists from around the world through long-term fellowships, hands-on courses, live demonstrations, and international workshops. He serves as a Visiting Professor at several institutions in China and is actively involved in ESD education throughout Asia, Europe, and beyond. His pioneering multicenter prospective study on colorectal ESD outcomes, published in Gastroenterology, contributed significantly to the global advancement of minimally invasive endoscopic treatment.
