Dr. Mingyan Cai

China

Dr. Mingyan Cai is an associate professor and a surgical endoscopist at Endoscopy Center, Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, Shanghai China. She has MD and Ph.D. degrees from Fudan University. She completed her General Surgery training in Shanghai, then finished specialist interventional endoscopy training under the direct mentoring of world-famous surgical endoscopist, Prof. Pinghong Zhou.

Dr. Cai performs a wide range of advanced endoscopic procedures including ESD, EFTR, tunnel endoscopy (POEM, STER, etc), NOTES, EUS, and ERCP. Dr. Cai has been to Germany for clinical study training (2013), Japan for magnifying endoscopy training (2014), and America for visiting a professorship at the University of Iowa tutoring POEM/ESD and learning EUS (2016). She finished the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (GCSRT2018-2019) Program at Harvard University. She has authored many peer-reviewed publications and holds an H-index of 36. She also devotes herself in endoscopic device innovation (won the ESGE innovation of the year 2025 - new device). She’s a fellow of ASGE and an active member of WIGNAP (Women in GI Network Asia-Pacific Region).
