Dr. Shu-Chen Wei

Dr. Shu-Chen Wei, MD, PhD, earned her MD from Chung Shan Medical University in 1992 and her PhD from the Institute of Clinical Medicine at National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2004. She later completed a research fellowship in Dr. Podolsky’s laboratory within the GI Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston (2006–2008). Early in her career, she was recognized as the Best Resident in the Department of Internal Medicine at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) from 1993 to 1997, and she received the Best Attending Physician Award from the NTU College of Medicine in 2002.

Dr. Wei has received numerous prestigious honors, including the Scholarship for PhD Students from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences at Academia Sinica (1999), the Young Clinician Award from the World Congress of Gastroenterology (2002), and Outstanding Article Awards from both the Gastroenterological Society of Taiwan (2003) and the Prof. Juei-Low Sung Research Foundation (2005). She was also awarded the Taiwan Merit Scholarship (2006–2008).

Currently, Dr. Wei is a Clinical Professor at NTUH. She is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGAF) and an active member of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization (ECCO). In 2025, she was named an Honorary Fellow of the Hong Kong Society of Gastroenterology. Dr. Wei serves as the President of the Taiwan Society of IBD (TSIBD), sits on both the Advisory Board and the Educational Committee of the Asian Organization for Crohn’s and Colitis (AOCC), and is a member of the ECCO Global Task Force.
