Shuntaro Obi, MD, PhD, is Professor of Internal Medicine at Teikyo University Chiba Medical Center, Japan. He received his MD from Teikyo University School of Medicine and his PhD in Gastroenterology from the University of Tokyo. He has extensive clinical and academic experience in hepatology, with a particular focus on hepatocellular carcinoma and interventional treatments. He also serves as a Visiting Professor at Kagawa University School of Medicine.
Dr. Obi has been actively involved in the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and served as President of APASL Oncology 2026 Tokyo. His major academic interests include the diagnosis and treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, locoregional therapies, systemic therapy, and long-term outcomes of patients with chronic liver disease.
