Prof. A.Kadir Dökmeci is a Turkish gastroenterologist and hepatologist, and Emeritus Professor at Ankara University School of Medicine (AUSM), where he currently serves as Senior Consultant in the Liver Transplantation Center at Bahçeşehir University. He received his medical degree from AUSM in 1971 and qualified as a gastroenterologist in 1978, later training under Prof. Okuda at Chiba University School of Medicine, Japan, where he studied ultrasonography, ERCP, and clinical hepatology from 1979 to 1981. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1982 and Professor in 1988 and served as Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine as well as the Department of Gastroenterology at AUSM from 1993 to 2000.
Prof. Dökmeci served as President of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) and organized the 25th APASL Annual Conference in Istanbul (2015), having earlier served as President of the 5th APASL Single Topic Conference (2009) and later as Honorary President of the 28th APASL STC. He sits on the editorial boards of journals including Hepatology International, Digestive Endoscopy, and the Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, and has published more than 130 papers. His honors include the Inohana Award from Chiba University (1999) and the APASL Powell-Sarin Life Achievement Award (2019).
