Professor Hsiu-Po Wang (MD, FJGES), born in 1961, graduated from the College of Medicine at National Taiwan University in 1988. He completed his residency and fellowship training in gastroenterology in 1993.


He is currently the President of the Taiwan Interventional Pancreatobiliary Endoscopy Society (TIPES) and a Professor of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine, National Taiwan University. He also serves as the Director and former President of the Digestive Endoscopy Society of Taiwan (DEST), Executive Director of the Taiwan Pancreas Society, and Executive Director of the Taiwan Neuroendocrine Tumor Association (T-NET).


Internationally, Professor Wang has been actively involved in leading organizations. He served as a Steering Committee Member of the Asian EUS Group (AEG) from 2013 to 2025, and has been an Advisor since August 2025. He is currently a Vice President of the Asian Pancreatobiliary Association (APBA).


Following completion of his gastroenterology training in 1993, he worked concurrently in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine, and the Emergency Department at National Taiwan University Hospital for 14 years. He subsequently served as Chief of the Division of Endoscopy until 2020, and later as Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology for two years.


Professor Wang’s clinical and academic expertise includes ERCP, EUS, and interventional EUS, as well as emergency endoscopy, image-enhanced endoscopy (IEE), endoscopic tumor ablation (including APC, RFA, and laser for esophageal, biliary, and pancreatic diseases), enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy, and gastrointestinal stenting.


He is highly active in international academic activities and has been frequently invited to chair sessions, deliver lectures, and perform live demonstrations. To date, he has authored more than 510 publications, including contributions to international textbooks.
