Professor Shuichiro Shiina, MD, PhD, is a gastroenterologist and interventional oncologist specializing in image-guided tumor ablation for liver cancer. He serves as Professor at Sasaki Institute, Japan. Prof. Shiina has been a pioneer in radiofrequency and microwave ablation and has led numerous clinical studies that have contributed to the establishment of evidence-based treatment strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma and colorectal liver metastases.
He was President of the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL 2024 Kyoto) and currently serves as President of the Japan Academy of Tumor Ablation. As the lead author and principal coordinator of the ACTA Ablation Guidelines, he has played a central role in standardizing ablation practices across the Asia-Pacific region.
Prof. Shiina has also conducted live demonstration procedures and educational programs in multiple countries, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Mongolia. He has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications.
