Dr. Asadur Tchekmedyian

Dr. Asadur Jorge Tchekmedyian, FASGE, FSIED, is a Uruguayan gastroenterologist and digestive endoscopist with a longstanding academic and international career. He is Chief of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Department at Asociación Española in Montevideo, President Emeritus of the Inter-American Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), and President of the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO).

He previously served as Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at the Uruguayan State University and has served as an external advisor to the World Health Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency. For more than 25 years, his clinical, academic, and research work has focused particularly on colorectal cancer screening and interventional endoscopy. He has delivered more than 200 lectures worldwide, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and contributed as author and editor to books on endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, hereditary cancer, and quality in medicine.



He is a Fellow of ASGE and SIED and holds several international honorary memberships.
