Dr. Catherine Teh is an internationally recognized leader in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery and a pioneer in liver and minimally invasive surgery. She serves as Chief of HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation at Makati Medical Center and Chief Innovation Officer at Great Valley Medical Center, where she drives digital transformation and patient safety initiatives.

A longtime innovator in health technology, Dr. Teh built the Philippine College of Surgeons' first website in 1994, developed the Asian liver metastasis registry used across 13 countries, and co-created MedCheck, an outpatient EMR platform. She holds a medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas, a Diploma in Healthcare Leadership from Harvard Medical School, and an MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors from the University of Edinburgh.

Dr. Teh co-founded the Philippine Association of HPB Surgeons and the ASEAN Laparoscopic HPB Council and currently leads the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the International Society of Fluorescence Guided Surgery. She helped pass the Philippines' National Integrated Cancer Control Act and chairs the Philippine College of Surgeons Cancer Commission. Through the SMA Foundation, which she founded, she provides free liver surgeries and transplants to indigent patients and funds surgical training for the next generation of HPB surgeons.

Her honors include Honorary Fellowships from the American College of Surgeons and European Association of Surgeons, recognition as a Top 3% Global Research Scientist (2024), and being the first Filipina Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. A prolific educator, she has delivered over 180 international lectures and serves on the editorial boards of leading surgical journals.
