Dr. Eddy Choon Jin Ooi is a leading figure in Asian gastroenterology, with a particular focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He obtained his MBBS from the National University of Singapore and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. From 1998 to 2000, he trained at the Center for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Ooi currently serves as President of the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE) and Chair of its Inflammatory Bowel Disease Committee, President of the Asian Education Network in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (AEN-IBD), and an Advisory Board Member of the Asian Organization of Crohn's and Colitis. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore.
Over the course of his career, he has held several distinguished appointments, including Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, Clinical Associate Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Chairman of the Chapter of Gastroenterologists at the Academy of Medicine Singapore, and President of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore. He also served as Co-President of APDW 2011 in Singapore and as a Director of the Asian Pacific Digestive Week Federation (APDWF).
