Dr. Hasan Maulahela is an Indonesian consultant gastroenterologist and advanced interventional endoscopist based in Jakarta. He practices at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital (RSCM) and is affiliated with the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, where his clinical focus spans gastroenterology, pancreatobiliary disease, and gastrointestinal endoscopy.
He completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine and gastroenterology-hepatology at Universitas Indonesia, followed by advanced endoscopy fellowships at centres including the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad, as well as institutions in South Korea and Japan. His clinical expertise centres on diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, including ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound, the management of pancreatobiliary disorders and gastrointestinal bleeding, and endoscopy education and competency-based training.
Dr. Maulahela is also active in clinical research and medical education, with publications spanning simulation-based endoscopy training, endoscopic ultrasound, functional gastrointestinal disorders, Helicobacter pylori, and therapeutic endoscopy — including a prospective study on simulation-based mastery learning for basic endoscopy training and a widely cited review on the diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE), reflecting a career that combines advanced endoscopic practice, academic teaching, trainee supervision, and gastroenterology research.
