Dr Jun Miyoshi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Kyorin University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He earned his MD and PhD from Keio University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Kawasaki Municipal Hospital, and undertook clinical fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at Keio University Hospital. He later served as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Chicago before returning to Kyorin University, where he was appointed Senior Assistant Professor in 2019 and Associate Professor in 2022.

 

His research centers on microbiome medicine, mucosal immunology, intestinal ultrasound, and machine learning applications in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He has published extensively on gut microbiota dynamics in colitis, including work on antibiotic-induced dysbiosis and early-life microbial restitution, with papers appearing in journals such as Gastroenterology, Cell Reports, and Cell and Molecular Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has also contributed key methodological work on the use of intestinal ultrasound to assess disease activity in ulcerative colitis, and on machine learning models to predict treatment response to biologic therapy in IBD.
