Prof. Han-Mo Chiu

Professor Chiu is a Clinical Professor at National Taiwan University and an attending physician at National Taiwan University Hospital. He received his bachelor’s degree in medicine from Taipei Medical University in 1995. Following two years of military service, he completed his residency training at National Taiwan University Hospital from 1997 to 2000 and subsequently undertook a two-year fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology. In 2010, he earned his PhD from the Institute of Preventive Medicine, College of Public Health, National Taiwan University.

He has received numerous honors, including the Prof. Juei-Low Sung Research Award for Young Investigators (2007), the Distinguished Young Investigator Award from National Taiwan University Hospital (2009), and Distinguished Abstract Awards at Digestive Disease Week in 2012, 2015, 2016, and 2021. In 2023, he was awarded the Research Excellence Award by Taiwan’s National Council of Science and Technology in recognition of his outstanding research achievements.

For more than two decades, Professor Chiu has focused on colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and colonoscopy research. He currently serves as President of the Digestive Endoscopy Society of Taiwan (DEST) and as a council member of the Gastroenterology Society of Taiwan (GEST). He is also the principal investigator of Taiwan’s CRC Screening Program and the Asian Chair of the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) CRC Screening Committee. In addition, he plays a leading role in the Asia-Pacific Working Group on CRC and is actively involved in multiple multicenter collaborative studies in this field.

In January 2025, Professor Chiu assumed the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
