Marcellus Simadibrata is now Professor and lecturer Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Medical Education Faculty Medicine Universitas Indonesia / Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta. 

Prof. Simadibrata is a senior figure in Indonesian gastroenterology, currently serving as Advisor to both the Indonesian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) and the Indonesian Society for Digestive Endoscopy (ISDE), having previously led both organizations as President (ISG, 2011–2016; ISDE, 2007–2011). He also served as a councillor for APSDE (2007–2012) and APAGE (2012–2016) and was formerly Chairman of the Department of Medical Education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, where he remains on staff in the Division of Gastroenterology.

He trained entirely at the University of Indonesia/Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, progressing from general practitioner (1981) to internist (1991) to gastroenterology-hepatology consultant (1999), and earned his PhD from the University of Amsterdam in 2002 with a dissertation on small bowel diseases causing chronic diarrhea in Indonesia. He holds memberships in numerous international societies, including APASL, APAGE, APSDE, ACG, and ASGE, and has published extensively on chronic and acute diarrhea, IBD, GERD, and dyspepsia in both Indonesian and international journals.
