Prof. Shinji Tanaka

Prof. Tanaka is a leading figure in gastroenterological endoscopy, specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of colorectal neoplasia. He graduated from Hiroshima University School of Medicine in 1984 and was appointed Professor in the Department of Endoscopy, Hiroshima University Hospital, in 2007.

He served as President of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (JGES) in 2022, became Professor Emeritus of Hiroshima University and President of JA Onomichi General Hospital in 2023, and in 2026 was named Adviser and Honorary President of JGES, alongside his current role as Clinical Adviser to Amano Hospital.

His clinical and research focus centres on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy for colorectal neoplasia. He is a Fellow of both JGES (FJGES) and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE).
